Albania vs Spain – Euro Cup 2024 Match Prediction

Spain, already confirmed as the winners of Euro 2024 Group B, will face Albania at the Merkur Spiel-Arena on Monday night.

Spain secured their spot in the knockout rounds by defeating reigning champions Italy 1-0. On the other hand, Albania is still in the hunt for a last-16 spot, sitting third in their group after a dramatic 2-2 draw with Croatia.

However, Albania has five players on the brink of suspension—Armando Broja, Gjasula, Elseid Hysaj, Arber Hoxha, and Mirlind Daku—who would miss a potential last-16 match if they receive a booking. Despite this, coach Sylvinho is not expected to let this influence his team selection.

Fortunately, Albania has no injury or fitness issues, which is great news for their fans. Gjasula’s important performance against Croatia might make Sylvinho reconsider his midfield options. Yet, Sylvinho will likely stick with the same starting eleven from their match against Croatia, meaning Rey Manaj will start up front over Chelsea’s Broja, who had a challenging loan spell at Fulham last season.

Spain’s coach, De la Fuente, has confirmed that there will be changes to the lineup for Monday’s game, especially since they have already secured the top spot. One change is mandatory, as midfielder Rodri is suspended after receiving two yellow cards.

There are also doubts over the fitness of centre-back Nacho and winger Ayoze Perez due to muscle and hamstring issues, respectively. With no need to take risks, De la Fuente is likely to rest these players. Martin Zubimendi, linked with Arsenal and Barcelona, is expected to replace Rodri.

Other players such as Mikel Oyarzabal, Mikel Merino, Ferran Torres, Alejandro Grimaldo, the 38-year-old Jesus Navas, and possibly even David Raya might be promoted to the starting lineup.
